Welcome to the official webpage of the “Multifunctional Materials and Additive Manufacturing” (MMAM) laboratory. The primary thrust of MMAM’s research endeavours is centered upon the realm of Materials Design and Innovation, with a particular emphasis on multiscale and multifunctional attributes in the context of Additive Manufacturing, directed towards applications that prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability. In MMAM, multi-disciplinary research is undertaken in order to understand the mechanical and functional response of AM-enabled materials and composites across scales through a combination of experimental investigations and modeling.

Currently, MMAM’s research endeavours are prominently directed towards pioneering concepts that harmoniously amalgamate the domains of additive manufacturing, materials science and engineering, as well as mechanics. This amalgamation seeks to yield materials and systems of multifunctional prowess. The expansive ramifications stemming from MMAM’s research undertakings are poised to yield advanced materials, products, and innovative additive manufacturing technologies that hold the potential to curtail carbon footprints. This pivotal contribution serves as a significant stride towards a future characterized by Carbon Net Zero (CNZ) aspirations.
